Things to see in Cork, from the bells to the fort
Cork is a city you can walk end to end in an afternoon, and most of the best bits are free. Here's a loop that takes in the places we love drawing most.
1. Shandon Bells
ShandonClimb the tower of St Anne's, ring the bells yourself and take in the whole city from the top. The four-faced clock is famous for never quite agreeing with itself.
2. The English Market
Princes StreetCovered food market in the heart of the city since the 1700s. Come hungry, leave with a bag of something you can't get anywhere else.
3. St Fin Barre's Cathedral
Bishop StreetThree spires over the south bank, and every bit as detailed inside as out.
4. Elizabeth Fort
Barrack StreetA star-shaped fort with walls you can walk along and views across the rooftops to the river.
5. Crawford Art Gallery
Emmet PlaceFree to visit and full of Irish art, right beside the Opera House. A good place to duck in from the rain.
6. Fitzgerald's Park
MardykeGardens, a museum and the river running past. The best place in town for a slow Sunday walk.
Take one of them home: every spot on this walk is in the shop, or on our list to draw.
